Application Guidelines

<Competition Overview>

There are two juried stages to select final designs for the new mug cup brand, "MugCom", distributed by Farzen Inc. At the first stage, an applicant enters only with the data file of the design (Illustrator or Photoshop). Around 100 designs will be selected and 100 sample mugcups will be produced for the second juried stage. These sample mugcups with 100 different designs will be exhibited at the Farzen booth of AAC (ACT ART COM - Art & Design Fair 2009) through June 24th to 28th at The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo (ACT). This Fair period is the second stage of the juried process. During the fair, the president, designer, project manager of Farzen Inc., Director of ACT, audiences' votes, will make the final selections of the winners. The winners' designs will be commercialized in August 2009, and will be presented as the new mugcup brand, "MugCom", at the Gift Fair in September 2009.

Applicants can freely design the clock face with illustration, graphic design, photography and so on.

<Award>
The winners' designs will be commercialized and distributed by Farzen Inc. All the selected designs will be presented as the new mug cup brand "MugCom" at the Gift Fair in Japan in September 2009!
ÅñWinners will make a contract and receive % from the sales. (The number of % will be discussed when making a contract.
*Final product will be provided to the winners.

<Eligibility>
The competition is open to everyone, 18 year old or older. Work must be original and shouldn't have been commercialized with other companies in the past.

<Entry Due>
May 15th (Fri), 2009

<Notification of acceptance (First Stage)>
May 29th (Fri), 2009
*The selected artists/designers will be notified by email.

<Due to submit the data file to enter the second stage>
June 5
th (Fri), 2009

<Duration of the Second Stage>
June 24th to 28th, 2009
*Second stage will happen at "AAC -Art and Design Fair 2009".

<Notification of the final winners>
Early July 2009.

*We will notify the final winners by email.

<Entry Fee>
$30.00 (able to submit up to 3 different designs)
$10.00 (starting from the 4th design, it is $10.00 for 1 design)

<Submitting Entries>
Please download the design template (Pdf or Ai File) below and use it as a format of your design.

*Please place your design inside of the blue area. The blue space is where your design will be transferred to.
*You don't have to use the whole blue space. The design could be just one point.
*Please use the 6 employable colors for your design. (You do not have to use all 6 colors, it could be just 1 color.)
*The submitted design could also be a image of your painting, illustration, photography. (Please place your image inside of the blue area.)
*Submitting materials must be saved as jpg, 150 dpi, 1000 pixel either way.
*The jpg data is used only for the first stage of the competition. For the second stage, we will ask the nominees to submit a high resolution data.

*The above image is just an example of the shape of the mug cup for the competition. The color of the mug above is light green but the final mug will be the cream color (same color as inside of the mug)

<As for selling the sample mug>
We will not sell sample mugs at the second stage.

<Final Selection>
In the second stage during the fair, the president, designer, project manager of Farzen Inc., and director of ACT will consider the works and audiences' votes, and will make the final selections of the winners withing a week after the fair is over. The winners will be notified by email and on the website of ACT.
