The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo

2015年に開催されたUTOPIA、UTOPIA Hugeの流れを受けて、この度新たに「Cenogenesis UTOPIA」として開催いたします。

　　＜過去のコンセプト＞
　　――内包するユートピア(理想郷) は、創作された世界の中にのみ存在し、現実世界には存在しない。
　　本展は観る者をユートピアの中へと誘うきっかけとしていただきたい。――

開催から10年が経ち、理想郷について改めて考察しました。日本はガラリと音を立てて変わっていました。
正しくは、変わり始めていた部分がパンデミックによって加速した形になるのでしょう。現在の社会は、果たして理想の社会でしょうか。

UTOPIAの由来はギリシャ語の「どこにもない場所」であり、文字通りに存在しない。達成不可能な理想の場所を示しています。
くしくもユートピアは、想像上の理想的な世界と概要されます。

わたしたちは作者の作品の中のみに存在する世界、その場所へ足を踏み入れる方法を探します。
みなさまの理想的な世界に想いを馳せて、作家の思い描く”UTOPA"をご高覧いただけましたら幸いです。

Artist Name 　SOI

1998年生まれ、中国・広東出身。現代の少女たちは、外見だけでなく、それぞれ異なる価値観や憧れ、精神世界を内包しています。本作では、視点によって絵柄が変化するレンチキュラー印刷を用い、少女たちの装いや、その奥に広がる心のUTOPIAを表現しました。見る角度によって、現実と内面世界が交互に現れ、多様で独立した少女たちの理想郷を描き出しています。

Born in 1998 in Guangdong, China. Contemporary girls embody not only diverse appearances, but also their own unique values, aspirations, and inner worlds. In this work, lenticular printing—through which the image changes depending on the viewing angle—is used to express both the girls’ outward styles and the hidden UTOPIA that exists within them. As the perspective shifts, reality and inner landscapes alternately emerge, revealing the diverse and independent ideal worlds imagined by each girl.

Artist Name Mikaku Satou

1998年　静岡県生まれ。
植物と、美しく可愛いらしい人物の組み合わせを好んでよく描き、得意としている繊細なタッチで衣装や小物など、細部までこだわって制作をしています。

Born in Shizuoka, Japan in 1998. The artist enjoys depicting combinations of plants and beautiful, charming figures, creating works with a delicate touch. Particular attention is given to intricate details such as costumes and accessories, carefully crafting each piece down to the finest elements.

横田紗礼

Artist Name Yokota Sara

日本古来のモチーフを取り入れつつ、ポップさと強さを兼ね備えた迫力ある作品を制作している。主な画材はアクリルガッシュ。蛍光色を散りばめた鮮やかな色使いが特徴。武蔵野美術大学視覚伝達デザイン学科卒業。東京在住。

The artist creates powerful works that combine traditional Japanese motifs with both pop sensibilities and strength. Using primarily acrylic gouache, the works are characterized by vivid colors accented with fluorescent hues. Graduated from the Department of Visual Communication Design at Musashino Art University and currently based in Tokyo.

現代の複雑で高速な世の中で、訪れた先だけでもシンプルに感じて欲しいという願いから、アジアに伝わる神様や瑞獣の姿を借りながら、拠りどころとしての作品を素材にとらわれず制作しています。自身の考えるめでたさや、健やかさ、強かさ、時には妖しさを、作品を通して感じてもらえたら嬉しいです。展覧会会場やオンライン、SNSやギャラリーを通して、人の持つ生きるエネルギーを感じられる瞬間を作っていきたいです。

In today’s complex and fast-paced world, my hope is that visitors will at least find a sense of simplicity in the spaces they visit. Drawing inspiration from the deities and mythical beasts of Asian folklore, I create works that serve as a source of solace, unbound by any specific medium. I would be delighted if viewers could sense, through my work, the concepts of joy, well-being, strength, and—at times—a touch of mystery that I envision.
